Prescriptions for 64.7m items of antidepressants were dispensed in England in 2016, this was a new all time high. So why is there still stigma attached to medication.
I’m 24, I have been taking medication for my BPD since I was 18 and now I also take medication for my PTSD and I’m not ashamed anymore! Why? Because there is nothing to be ashamed of.
Taking medication does NOT make me:
A bad Mum
Or crazy.. It makes me:
Nobody tries to sell me some herbal shit or tell me to have a walk in the woods when I have an infection and I need these medications just like I need antibiotics when I have an infection.
You wouldn’t call someone weak for picking up a prescription to get rid of a chest infection.
Lets fight the stigma we have around medication.
NOBODY DESERVES TO BE ASHAMED OF THE BATTLE THEY FACE DAILY! (Statistics taken from The Guardian)
