Caring for and supporting someone with a mental illness is exhausting. It may be hard to live with them but it is even harder to watch somebody you care about suffering. After time this will take a toll on you and you must seek support before you are completely drained yourself.
.
You may be the only person helping them right now and in that case seek out other help. Search for groups they can attend to support them, while you take some time for yourself.
.
Hopefully you are in a position where someone can share the responsibility with you, even if it’s for shorter time. Good communication between you and this person will make supporting your loved one easier. They shouldn’t feel like they are being supervised or a burden.
.
When supporting someone with a mental health issue you must not forget to take care of your own wellbeing.
