What if? What if you devoted this year to not letting your mental illness win. To not give up because giving up is like letting everyone who made you the way you are, win. Show your mental illness who the fuck is the boss here. Don’t let it control you. Don’t let it damn your life to always being miserable. Fight the fuck back. Don’t back down, and keep fighting. If you have bpd, get yourself to a therapist that can help you. If you don’t like the one your seeing, drop them. Keep searching for one that gets you. One that you like, and feel comfortable with. I went through countless therapists before I found mine. Get a therapist that can help you find a dbt program to change your life. If you have ptsd, participate in exposure trauma therapy. I’m hoping that my therapists supervisor will approve of me going again ( usually you can only take it once ) but when I took it I was in an extremely abusive relationship and I didn’t get anything out of it. If you are going to do dbt you need to COMMIT. Give it your absolute all. It will help. There is hope. There is that gray area you have been searching for. I still don’t see it most of the time, but it’s getting clearer every day. Be patient with yourself. Be kind to yourself, and most of all take care of yourself. You’re all you have in this life.
