This is my go to exercise to feel better about myself and my life in general. The secret is, you write the list when you feel good about yourself and read it when you feel bad. I’d love to suggest that you should do this when you’re low but realistically, you probably won’t be able to. When I’m on a bpd low, I wallow in swell hatred and if I tried to force myself to write nice things, I’d just write “nothing, I haven’t achieved anything, I’m useless” and so on. But reading the positive things I write about myself when I feel shitty does help. I can’t deny my achievements, they’re there, on paper (or in Notes on my phone) so I must face it – I’m not bad as I seem in that moment.
