Part of the BPD condition is overthinking and therefore overcomplicating things. We tend to feel like we need to act on every emotion we have whilst others can just sit with it. Yeah, but others don’t feel things as strongly as we do. I don’t just feel sadness, I feel heartbreaking unbearable emotional distress. I don’t just feel joy, I feel such state of euphoria that stops me from sleeping or functioning normally. So it makes sense to act on those emotions, they’re overwhelming! It makes complete sense to try to stop the negative one from happening and try to act in a way that stops it. Usually this seems totally crazy to the outsider who have no idea of the distress we feel when triggered as they never experienced it themselves. A huge part of DBT is mindfulness with a goal to teach us to be with out feelings, no matter how scary they are. They’re just feelings. The less we run from them, the less powerful they become. Like I’ve written in my post on my blog, I can feel strong emotions (link in bio), it’s a bit like having a sixth sense that no outsider can comprehend. I think recovery to me looks like a place where I can just take things and just to be able to live with them. The good ones and the bad ones just the same. I’m not saying to just take whatever shit life throws at me without a fight but I think letting go is a skill I definitely have to perfect. With people and everything else. #bpdlife #bpdquotes #bpd #borderline #borderlinepersonalitydisorder #bpdrecovery #bpdawareness #bpdfam #eupd #bpdproblems #bpdlife #bpdthoughts
